The "Cut" function is used to remove an element from one area of an active window so that it can be placed to another area by using the Paste function. This "meanwhile storage" is managed by the clipboard. It can also be used to export data in its own format as well as in the Windows-Metafile format. Further, the clipboard data can be exported to other external programs for documentation purposes (text programs) and can be imported as modules. If only a part of a component is selected while attempting the Cut function, then the complete element or component will be transferred to the clipboard.

If you accidentally used the "Cut" function on an element and would like to get that element back, simply use the "Undo" function by pressing the [Backspace] key or by selecting "Undo" from the Edit menu.
