I am a M.E. learning PCB layout.
In creating things you should have the same commands. I.e. when you are creating a part in PCB, and you command "x" to create it after highlighting, you should mimick the same commands in creating a symbol in shcema page. Instead you have a totally different method. i.e. Y plus X. Makes no sense. Why not make the same "create" commands from each page?
Answer:
It is because for the schematic use you sometimes have symbols which consist of several gates i.e. several sub-symbols. When drawing these you need the Y-key to define each of them as one sub-unit within the main symbol. At the end you export them to a library using the X-key. Please have a look at the article Components.
