An upgrade means moving towards a more powerful edition. The ranking of TARGET 3001! editions is:

TARGET 3001! light (up to 400 Pins/Pads on 2 copper layers, the simulation is capable of 30 signals)
TARGET 3001! smart (up to 700 Pins/Pads on 2 copper layers, the simulation is capable of 50 signals)
TARGET 3001! medium (up to 1,000 Pins/Pads on 2 copper layers, the simulation is capable of 60 signals)
TARGET 3001! economy (up to 1,200 Pins/Pads on 4 copper layers, the simulation is capable of 75 signals)
TARGET 3001! professional (unlimited Pins/Pads on 100 copper layers, the simulation is capable of 100 signals)
TARGET 3001! design station (unlimited Pins/Pads on 100 copper layers, the simulation is capable of an unlimited number of signals)

Within the current version an Upgrade e.g. would be a shift from edition "medium" to edition "economy". An upgrade also is possible when coming from earlier versions, e.g. a shift from V19 medium to an economy of the current version. Downgrades e.g. from economy to medium are not possible. In this case the purchase of a current medium edition would be an additional new version (we can give a discount).
