Der Symbolgenerator ist Teil des Systems "Bauteileditor", das mit Version V18 erschien. Sie finden ihn im Schaltplanmenü '''Bauteile/Spezialfunktionen/Symbol-Generator'''. Er erleichtert das Erzeugen von Symbolen mit vielen Pins, ebenso das Erzeugen von Symbolen mit mehreren Gattern (Teilsymbolen). Jedes Symbol, sobald generiert, kann unabhängig von den Funktionen des Generators individuell weiter bearbeitet werden. Der Symbol-Generator öffnet sich mit folgender Ansicht.

In der ersten Zeile stellt man bei '''Pins''' die Gesamtzahl der Anschlusspins ein, die über alle Gatter gezählt werden, sofern es überhaupt mehrere Gatter bzw. Teilsymbole gibt. Man wählt die Gestalt eines Anschlusses: ohne alles, männlich, weiblich, Ring, Punkt oder Kästchen. Der kleine grüne Haken zeigt an, welche Auswahl im Moment getroffen ist.

Ob neben der Anschlussnummer noch '''Anschlussnamen''' sichtbar sein sollen, wählt man im kleinen Feld "Anschlussnamen". Soll das Symbol von einer rechteckigen Box umbgeben sein, setzt man den Haken hier. Die '''Anordnung''' der Pins kann geschehen: links, beidseitig, abwechselnd (= zickzack) und rundum. Grundsätzlich befindet sich der Pin Nummer 1 im Westen oben und die Reihe folgt dem umgekehrten Uhrzeigersinn. Setzt man einen Haken in die Box '''rückwärts''', beginnt die Reihe im Norden links mit Pin 1 und verläuft weiter im Uhrzeigersinn.

The arrangement of pins can happen: left, two sided, alternating (= zigzag) and all around. In general pin number 1 is located top in the west, while the row continues counter clockwise. If you tick the box "backward" pin 1 starts left in the north while the row continues clockwise.
