ODB++
Currently, TARGET 3001! generates the production data in Gerber format (RS274X). Not, however, in the ODB++ format.
ODB++ is a proprietary format of Mentor Graphics. From our point of view, this bears the risk of being trapped in this format. In other words - to be dependent on our competitor Mentor Graphics for further development. We do not want that, so that is the reason why we are cautious here.
Our focus remains on the Gerber format. As a consequence, we will pursue and implement the further development of the Gerber X3 format.
Gerber X3 is needed, for example, to:
- visualise component placement, to check for errors and to set up the assembly
- generate the manufacturing tools, such as the paste stencils and the pick-and-place machine programs
- assist in the procurement of the components
In terms of interfaces to e-test machines, TARGET offers the following formats:

*.tgr (Polar Instruments)
*.dif (Digitaltest)
*.txt (describes positions of test points for placing test probes)
*.fab (Fabmaster)
*.cad (GenCAD)
