The operation of TARGET 3001! mainly is carried out by the [[graphical user interface]] 
*by the [[menu]] system 
*in the different [[working mode]]s 
*by [[key combinations]] or 
*by the dialogs which open after [[mousekeys|doubleclick]] on any drawing element in the current [[window]]. 
*by [[Mousekeys]] 
*[[Tips and tricks]] 

Define [[Hierarchy Browser|presettings]], which are applied anytime TARGET 3001! is started. Define [[Default|defaults]], for immediate load. Use the [[Quickdraw|x-ray mode]] for inspection of your layout in translucent view (= quickdraw, drawing of the outlines only). Get access to any drawn element with key [[select|s - for "select"]].

An important tool for the handling of the [[component]]s is the [[Library Browser]]. Use it for the storage and administration of components, and the libraries they are taken from. Modification of existing components and the drawing of new (custom) components are managed here. [[Edit component|Create your own components]] according to data sheets, create a [[simulation]] model as well as a [[3D View|3D]] - model.
Use the [[Library Browser|library browser]] also when you intend to import a component's [[symbol]] to the [[schematic]] or it's [[package]] to the [[layout]].
Numerous automatic functions and assistants will ease your work.

You have several possibilities to display a data sheet. You must be connected to the internet:

* when you search a data sheet of a component of the [[Libraries|library]], you will find it in the shops of the distributors, who provide this component. Therefore you click the button "Component info" in the [[Library Browser]]. In the opening dialogue you can see, which distributors offer this [[component]]. Choose your preferred distributor and click the button "Online information". So you get to the item in the distributor's shop, where in the majority of cases you find a data sheet [[file]] for the desired component.

*when you want to add a data sheet file to your component information, then push the button [[Component Info]] in the [[Library Browser|library browser]]. In the opening dialogue "Component information" you click the button "Data sheet (V11)...". Here you have the opportunity to gather one or more data sheet URLs.

When you have found a new URL, you enter it into the field "Enter URL:" and press the button "Arrow up". You proceed similarly, when you want to edit or delete an existing URL.

The control button "[[Options]]" allows the declaration of a "Path" for an internet browser of your choice.

It is possible to have a couple of [[Project|projects]] open in [[TARGET 3001!]] with one or more open [[Window|windows]] of each [[project]]. It is possible to have a [[window]] of the schematic- and a window of the PCB- file open on the screen. For edition of both, simply toggle between the schematic- and the PCB- window with the '''[F3]''' key. 

'''[[Schematic]]:''' A diagram that shows the electrical perspectives between the connections of [[Component|components]] through inter connections done with signal wires and [[bus|buses]]. 

'''[[PCB]]:''' Printed circuit board, presentation of the electrical connections of the [[Pin|pins]] of [[component]] packages with solder pads and signal tracks. A [[PCB]] can be made out of one or more of the following: ground planes, deletion layers, solder resist layers, insertion legend print layer, solder paste layer, gold coating layer, adhesive coating layer and dimensioning layer, outline layer, routing data layer and a drill hole layer. According to the kind of command TARGET 3001! can achieve more than one [[Working mode|working modes]]. If you eg intend to place a [[via]] you first must inform TARGET 3001! that you want to do so. The second step is to define the exact location of the via. This is a general principle in TARGET 3001!. After selecting this function (eg in [[Menu Elements]] / "Place a via") the shape of the cursor changes: [[Image:DukoCursor.jpg]] 

Now you are in [[Working mode|working mode]] "Place Via". Now place the via by [[Mousekeys|'''M1''']] at cursor position or in this special case also by key '''[.]''' at cursor position. 

The status bar on the bottom of the screen shows the current mode. Additionally some key combinations are shown, which have a meaning in this context.

If you had selected a mode you can press key '''[o]''' for '''O'''ptions. The flashing dialog allows further settings regarding the mode. After you had placed the via you might doubleclick it for modifications.
